Problems With Inactive Fantasy Football Owners
One of my biggest issues with fantasy football
is when you have members in your league who do not pay attention or care about
their team. Whether it is because they drafted a bad team and basically gave up
on the season or they lose interest, it can harm the rest of the league. When
you sign up to play fantasy football, especially in dynasty formats, you are
making a commitment to the other league members to actively participate. We
have all had those leagues that end up falling apart because a member gives up
and then more start to follow because the league gets less interesting. Having
a team inactive during the season will shake everything up because some teams
may get lucky and play that team when multiple players are on bye weeks and
then it pretty much turns into a free win. If a member isn’t paying attention, it’s
basically like you don’t get the full experience. Maybe you want to trade for
someone from that team, but they aren’t interested or willing to talk about
trades so those players are basically locked all season. This will especially
screw up dynasty leagues because if you have an owner who gives up, the team
most likely will not improve, which makes it much harder to find another member
willing to take over a dynasty team that is not very good. Then that new member
has to trying to dig the team out of the hole it was left in which we all know
is no easy task.
